Tejidos Royo are next to present with ReSOURCE at VIEW

Tejidos Royo are longstanding exhibitors at our BLUEZONE Denim Trade Show as well as VIEW Premium Selection and now they will be among the first to present their sustainable fabrics with ReSOURCE at VIEW.

How important is it to you, to present your new products at VIEW Premium Selection?

VIEW & MUNICH FABRIC START means quality and efficiency. Always thinking about the future, these fairs are constantly changing with the sole objective of satisfying the needs of the exhibitors and visitors. At Tejidos Royo we share this philosophy, and we are also aware of the relevance that both the VIEW fair and Munich Fabric Start have in Germany for the textile sector. We have been betting for this fair for many years, due to the importance that the German market has for Tejidos Royo.
Our goal is that the fabrics presented in each edition, serve as a source of inspiration for visitors. This new AW 20/21 collection has SUSTAINABILITY and the use of the most advanced technology in the development of fabrics as main characteristics, together with an exceptional quality of finish.

Sustainability is not just a trend. Please tell us how intensely you are working on this topic right now?

NSustainability has been imposed as the only recipe to counteract the ecological crisis of the planet. For many critics, sustainability is for the fashion industry a facelift. But the change is not only in a “green washing” rather the change comes from a complete revolution of all the production processes of a company.
The buying trend among consumers is changing. The consumer no longer only looks for price, quality, speed, exclusivity, etc. but among its purchasing decisions is the sustainability and social-environmental commitment of the company. The term ‘Sustainability’ in the private sector is escalating as a strategic priority. It is not just about selling more products to more people. It is about limited resources, climate change, over-population which challenge innovation to make more competitive products.
Tejidos Royo, aware of the seriousness of the situation, continues to guide the textile industry towards this new era of sustainability and the protection of human rights throughout the value chain by innovative solutions.

“Our goal is to give the market the best product without permanent harmful effects for the future.”

The trajectory of Tejidos Royo is marked by the development of leading-edge sustainable techniques in the industrial process.

Today Tejidos Royo is a pioneer in the development of a unique process in the world, capable of dyeing indigo without using water. This process, developed together with Gastón Company and IMD- and denominated DRY INDIGO®, gets the requirements to be considered an eco-sustainable technology to Indigo Yarn Dyeing process with Zero Consumption and Zero Discharge of Water, to Process Certified by AITEX.

How does this influence the future of your company?

We are aware of the effort we are making in terms of investment, but also that, if we do not act, we will end the planet. Our continuous search for sustainable solutions throughout the value chain influences us in a positive way and gives us the peace of mind that we are on the right track. The mentality of the textile sector is changing. It is a slow process, but both, manufacturers, brands and consumers are adapting to this new way of creating and consuming fashion that is increasingly sustainable and beneficial in all aspects, by and for the common good. A new way of doing things has arrived and we are firmly committed to it.

Please highlight some of the sustainable products visitors will find in your upcoming collections at VIEW Premium Selection and MUNICH FABRIC START.

DRY INDIGO® The future of sustainable denim, IS NOW
Tejidos Royo, together with Gaston and Imd, has developed the Dry Indigo® technology, a dyeing process which is unique in the world. This certified and guaranteed technology under the ECO – TECHNOLOGY by AITEX (textile research institute) allows to dye indigo yarn with zero water in dyeing process, 89% less chemicals, 65% reduced energy usage and also zero water discharge. In addition to being the most sustainable dyeing technology in the market today, our Dry Indigo® registered brand offers this features in the fabric:

  • Intense Cast (Indigo intense hue)
  • Multi Cast Wash-down (being a superficial dyeing, it allows very sharp contrasts)
  • Very versatile fabric to laser processing

ROYO has the exclusive right of this unique technology worldwide.

REBOOT LINE “Recycled PFD fabrics”
This fabric is the first sportswear recycled fabric in PFD (Prepared For Dye), characterized by premium quality and regular finishes that solves “the big problem” of the presence of foreign fibers in the spinning and dyeing process of recycled sportswear fabrics. Its most outstanding features are:

  • Recycled Pre-consumer
  • Non foreign fibers and clean look
  • Same look and hand-feel of conventional fine cottons

RECYCLED DENIM FABRICS
We support the shift towards an efficient and traceable economy in the use of resources, an upcycling strategy of responsible product based, fundamentally, on the use of pre and post-consumer textile waste “close the loop” to manufacture new fabrics improving their benefits. All through the circular process. All items containing more than 20% recycled material have the international external guarantee “Global Recycled Standard” (GRS), which strengthens the credibility of all the products we obtain.

“We have the opportunity to reduce the consumption of natural resources and guarantee an optimum quality.”

DUTEL: The year 2018 was marked by a collective awareness to the ready-to-wear industry. Brands, customers and young designers are now combining design of clothing with an environmentally friendly approach.
BORNEMANN: As a first time exhibitor, we are extremely curious and excited to be a part of VIEW Premium Selection. The event let’s us get in touch with our customers and potential customers at an early stage of their developments. YILMAZ: VIEW is especially important to us because the timing is excellent for the customer’s new collection preparation. It’s our chance to show them our new developments, as early as possible.

Sustainability is not just a trend. Please tell us how intensely you are working on this topic right now and how you see this influencing the future of your company?

DUTEL: CONSUMERS SEEK RESPONSIBLE READY-TO-WEAR. According to the Lyst eCommerce Fashion Report, searches for organic cotton or vegan leather clothing increased by 47% in 2018. In parallel, the number of Instagram posts with the hashtag #sustainablefashion came close to 3 million. An undeniable increase, revealing the environmental concerns of a consumer in search of responsible consumption. Exit compulsive shopping! Fashion lovers, now aware of the devastating effects of fast-fashion, are in search of “green dressing”, eco-responsible, which is neither harmful for the planet, nor for those who live in it. DUTEL has already started many years ago with concrete actions in our factory. We started to offer a sustainable collection in our SS19 collection with a couple of articles with organic cotton and recycled polyester, this section is meant to become bigger and bigger every season. We planned to use recycled wool, but due to high price level, we decided to postpone this.
BORNEMANN: Sustainability is part of almost every conversation we are having with our customers at the moment. What can be done? What makes sense? What are the newest trends and which product fits best into our customers program? To get all the info right and on point, we just released a special digital portfolio that shows all our current sustainable product-possibilities. We want to be a dependable partner when it comes to questions of practicability, plausibility and of course trend! Sustainability is something that we are working on daily, our innovation management and product development is constantly looking for new alternatives to offer. Not just material alternatives that is, but also working process improvement. Digital sample-developments and our online care label-generator are only two examples of what is on our agenda.
YILMAZ: You are totally right, it’s not just a trend and it should not be treated like one. We all have a responsibility to nature, and we are working intensively on this topic by always creating new things and developing our regular items. It is also crucial for our company because we are planning to raise our sustainable product percentage to 80% in a couple of years, ultimately the goal is 100% sustainability.

Please highlight some of the sustainable products visitors will find in your upcoming collections at VIEW Premium Selection and MUNICH FABRIC START.

Autumn.Winter 20/21: The Meaning Behind the Key Visual

The release of our new key visual marks the start of a new season here at Munich Fabric Start. Over the last few months our team has uniquely interpreted and defined the trends and theme for the upcoming Autumn.Winter 20/21 season. Read more about how trends are made at Munich Fabric Start.

BEYOND AWARE presents a season which is free to explore the ways our world and fashion are changing, proving they are on a new path where everything is connected. Describing a season which is ready to embrace and be part of a new world exploring and developing the relationship between fashion and our planet, through awareness of the beyond.

The designer Julia Boll, at Stein Communication with over 10 years of experience as a graphic designer, has beautifully translated the theme of the new season BEYOND AWARE. Here she tells us more about her thought process and inspirations for this new project.

As a designer, I like to be inspired by as many things as possible. Of course, it always depends on what the specific task requires. Sometimes I am inspired by colors, shapes, newfound objects or it can also be photos and illustrations. I am someone who enjoys spending their free time drawing, mostly of funny characters, which I also then screenprint.

The final design actually came together from two very different designs. I liked the idea of incorporating soap bubbles because it is just not so “spiritual” but fragile. And yet it still transported the topic pretty well. Soap bubbles are cheerful and light and fly very calmly but always with the wind. In addition, they can quickly burst irretrievably, you cannot grab them and although they appear clear they still display many beautiful colors. A bit like thoughts or feelings, but also like fashion. The background of the key visual had been part of another graphic. It works well because it reflects a lot of power while also reflecting an expression of the fast-moving, digitalization as well as the idea that a lot of things are happening and developing in different directions. Many energies are released and you still do not know where to go. Let you guide yourself, beyond aware!

We are looking forward to a great new season!

New Entry at BLUEZONE: Metal Trim Specialist Dorlet!

We are happy to announce that Dorlet, one of the leading European additional suppliers with a strong focus on metal and leather goods, will be complementing the BLUEZONE trims portfolio in September.

Founded in Paris in 1928, the family run business has a rich industrial heritage and a unique know-how passed down from generation to generation.
Initially specialising in the manufacturing and sale of hats and millinery supplies, Dorlet changed to selling lining materials for clothing in 1946, and then changed in a roundabout way 1958 to manufacturing fabric bags and waistbands, and finally in 1967 to sewing threads.

Since the 1980’s, Dorlet has been shifting their focus to devising, designing, developing, manufacturing, creating and selling metal products for ready-to-wear, fashion, sportswear, denim, workwear, shoes and leather goods. In addition, the product range is rounded off by nylon, wood and cotton accessories.

Brass, copper, alloy, iron and stainless steel provide the raw materials for Dorlet’s creations, with the option to tailor-make and personalized products: CAD design with customer logo, colouring and production of a 3D resin prototype are the beginning stages, followed by producing a mold as soon as the shape, material and functionality of the product have been approved.

Carried out in close cooperation with the customer, Dorlet’s design process provides a great freedom in low-cost operations and tests to respond to its customers’ stylistic ideas as well as to their technical and environmental constraints.

Metal trims are certified Oko-tex Standard 100 and complied with REACH regulation.

Dorlet operates out of three continents, Europa, Africa and Asia, close to major textile and leather good production sites, thus being able to provide logistical and technical support. Real-time management, automated stock maintenance (SAP) and 3D prototyping within 48 hours carried out in France are certainly further USPs to be mentioned.

During our next edition of BLUEZONE, Dorlet will be showcasing their latest collection and novelties in Munich. Looking forward to welcome this promissing new entry to the BLUEZONE!

Planet REhab Capsule: Celebrating Sustainable Collaboration

It is great to have organic fibres, right? But as a producer of fibres, the influence on a more sustainable textile production often stops here. Textile garments have complex supply chains which sometimes imply production partners all over the world. That’s why the solution for a more coherent and holistic form of sustainability often lies in right supply chain partnerships!

That’s the idea behind the so called “Planet Rehab” capsule collection, for which renowned textile companies, who are environmentally committed, have partnered up to create something bigger than their own.

The collection was presented during last edition of KEYHOUSE in January. MUNICH FABRIC START feels especially committed about this project as all project partners – Lenzing, Tejidos Royo, Officina +39, and Tonello have been long term exhibitors at the fair.

These companies recognized the success to achieving their own goals lies in fulfilling their shared ones, by working collaboratively and responsibly – seeking out more sustainable raw materials, implementing new technologies and employing processes that reduce resource utilization and waste. Juan Carlos Gordillo designed the Rehab collection around Lenzing’s TENCEL™ and TENCEL™ x REFIBRA™ branded lyocell fabrics from Tejidos Royo. The fabrics were dyed using Recycrom technology from Officina+39 and the resultant garments finished by Tonello.

Lenzing’s TENCEL™ and TENCEL™ x REFIBRA™ branded lyocell fibers enhance the sustainable qualities of the fabrics. Made from renewable wood in a closed loop, energy and resource efficient manufacturing process, TENCEL™ fibers and TENCEL™ x REFIBRA™ fibers made with recycled cotton scraps provide the fabrics with softness, smoothness, tenacity, and color intensity.

Spanish fabric producer, Tejidos Royo, creates “fabric with values” through the company’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The manufacturer’s vertical business model has substantially reduced its energy consumption and CO2 emissions through aggressive R&D and provides complete transparency and traceability for their customers

Officina+39’s Recycrom dyes are made from recycled clothing and textile scraps that are specially processed by these Italian experts through a sophisticated production process using only natural chemicals. Waste fabrics are crystalized into an incredibly fine powder that can be used as a pigment dye. Recycrom received the Hightex Award at MUNICH FABRIC START for Autumn/Winter 17/18.

Laundry specialist Tonello also based in Italy, contributed their ECOFREE 2 technology to the project. Fulfilling the needs of the designers and their customers, Tonello’s revolutionary washing process significantly reduces the water and hazardous chemical consumption typically associated with denim finishing.

Guatemalan designer, Juan Carlos Gordillo, applauds the Planet REhab objectives and used the member companies’ products to create fifteen women’s outfits that celebrate life and nature with exceptional color flair and a decidedly Latin influence. The full collection was displayed during the last edition of KEYHOUSE in January 2019, showcasing the eclectic and artistic style for which Gordillo is known for.

“Planet REhab is my tribute to the ocean with its deep colors and flowing shapes,” the celebrated designer says. “The collection also protects the ocean because it is created from the sustainable fibers, fabrics, dyes, and finishing techniques perfected by the Planet REhab collaborating companies. While many companies talk about being sustainable, these companies had the courage to actually create sustainable products and processes that benefit the industry, society, and the planet. I hope this collection can inspire other designers to prioritize sustainability in their creative processes.”
