FOREVER stands for semi-elegant, cosy and classic home & all day wear.

DREAMATIC creatively stages a progressive and urban casual fashion.

EARTHTOPIA shows a strong consciousness for function and tradition.

HAPPY CHAOS is an optimistic playground for sports, diy, craftsmanship and improvisation.

GAMESHIFTER combines futuristic high-tech innovation with flashy glamour.

Now we look at the final trend theme GAMESHIFTER:

HOPETIMISM TREND THEME #5: GAMESHIFTER

GAMESHIFTER is a word play made up of Gamechanger and Shapeshifter. Existing realities are mixed with visionary prospects for the future. Gamechangers are changing the world and may be the ones to find the vaccine against Covid-19, while a Shapeshifter make sure of artifitial intelligence as a hybrid between a man and a machine.

With GAMESHIFTER, the combination of both these influences form a trend that awakens the desire for the right balance of consumption, that is both desired and allowed.

We dive into a world of dark colours, which also has something mystical and dystopian about it. The palette is energized by rich, silky, decorative baroque colours. The sporty mix of these colours creates an exciting colour palette.

GAMESHIFTER allows two different material worlds to meet. On the one hand that of stable and dramatic fabrics and trimmings, in which a functional approach determines the decorative material development. This is achieved with powerful synthetics, polyamide sportswear, structural volume, quilted and embossed textiles, jacquard, tech jersey or fly knit.

For accessories, the material mix combines lamé, lurex, glitter and dark metallic colours for buttons and ribbons.

HAPPY CHAOS is an optimistic playground for sports, diy, craftsmanship and improvisation.

Next we look at the trend theme HAPPY CHAOS:

HOPETIMISM TREND THEME #4: HAPPY CHAOS

Characteristic for the HAPPY CHAOS are the optimistic doers in the interplay of new digital and analogue realities and identities. Problems are mastered in a playful way, an open approach to the new family reality is cultivated.  Thanks to the influences of technology, real ideas in this field are served virtually – for example, through digital fashion collections on social media channels that are only shown online and are not available in reality.

We find ourselves between gaming, digital learning and working. HAPPY CHAOS is loud, exaggerated and excessive. This is also reflected in the HAPPY CHAOS colour palette:

Soft, natural basic colours such as neutral brown and khaki tones are contrasted with cheerful, bright Nintendo colours. Offwhite plays with intense colours like sporty fake neons in yellow and blue through brightness and depth.

HAPPY CHAOS uses a wild mix of materials; vinyl meets recycled polyester, cotton and unusual textiles. Transparency also plays a major role – in materials, finishes and accessories.Trims are often laser-cut or have metallic details. Patterns appear as if created by a random generator, with digital prints and unpredictable collages. Strong, intense colours are often used, but only subtly, and combined with natural elements.

The Autumn.Winter 21/22 Trend Forecast by MUNICH FABRIC START presents HOPETIMISM, this season’s title which stands for hope and optimism – it is a mindset that explores new ways and perspectives. Its spirit brings our industry together during a very challenging time to design innovative products and processes that fulfil new market needs. HAPPY CHAOS is an optimistic playground for sports, diy, craftsmanship and improvisation.

GAMESHIFTER combines futuristic high-tech innovation with flashy glamour.

We focus next on the trend theme EARTHTOPIA:

HOPETIMISM TREND THEME #3: EARTHTOPIA

EARTHTOPIA is made up of EARTH and UTOPIA and deals with the desire and striving for a healthier world. We want to give something back to the earth, give it space to recover. But it is also about the human being who recovers in nature and recharges his resources.

Especially in challenging times such as the current situation, there are more people than ever drawn to nature to pursue the longing for silence and peace. But EARTHTOPIA also puts nature itself in a central light – gigantic and imposing. The power of the forest, of water, mountains and glaciers becomes tangible and visible here.

In keeping with the theme, the focus is on natural colour tones that especially appear through warm-cold-contrasts. The spectrum of colours ranges from coloured stone tones to warmer earthy, muddy and mossy nuances. Accents in this natural palette are set by a fiery rust tone and an icy glacial mint.

This trend is about traditional materials that have a technical function – often also in a material mix: for example, in the form of natural materials mixed with synthetics. At the same time, the search is on for recycled and innovative trimming materials.

The atmosphere of wilderness and adventure is created by faux fur and teddy plush, but also natural dyes and camouflage bacterial stains. The same applies to functional patching in muted earth colours and the use of wood, stonenut and cotton linen as materials. Prints are mainly replicas of nature, while traditional checks and herringbone also set the tone for prints.

We focus next on the trend theme DREAMATIC:

HOPETIMISM TREND THEME #2: DREAMATIC

DREAMATIC is a word creation combining DREAM and DRAMATIC – the theme is characterised by longing and melancholy, merged with a positive outlook. Here you will find the progressive poets and visionaries who actively seek solutions to current challenges. These digital humanists are dreamy and imaginative, but always have a connection to reality. With this attitude, worlds can be moved.

Blue is the focus here and represents the fluidity and movement of water and air. Contrasted by delicate natural tones such as hibiscus or vicuna. The distinct look of this trend comes from the faded primary colours and degradé tones, which can be found in shades of blues and reds.

When it comes to fabrics and materials, we encounter provocative, punk batiks and pastel fades, which are combined with classics such as a simple herringbone coat or elegant pumps. Classic elements in delicate colours with highly technical 3D patterns are decorated in a charming way and produced with a high attention to detail and craftsmanship. Romantic floral prints are found in combination with shiny, reflective, technical or transparent materials.

MUNICH FABRIC START announces FABRIC DAYS Trade Fair Event

MUNICH FABRIC START CANCELLATION & ANNOUNCEMENT OF FABRIC DAYS

Two weeks ago, MUNICH FABRIC START from 1 – 3 September 2020 as the first trade fair for the textile industry after the Covid-19 lockdown was confirmed – taking into account the applicable safety and hygiene measures. With the move to the large interim location of Messe München-Riem and the exhibitor registrations of 650 suppliers received at the beginning of June, it was possible to implement this challenging plan despite the short time available.

We have been working flat out to organise a trade fair at the well-known level and thus offer the industry a perspective.

Unfortunately, despite all our efforts, we are now forced to cancel MUNICH FABRIC START and BLUEZONE from 01 – 03 September 2020 due to several reasons related to the pandemic.

This hard decision is mainly based on the ongoing travel restrictions in and outside of Europe which is causing great planning uncertainty for companies and has led to cancellations by international exhibitors who had previously confirmed their participation. These issues make it impossible for us to realize this trade fair in the previously announced and well-known form.

FABRIC DAYS FROM 1 – 3 SEPTEMBER 2020 AS SPECIAL BUSINESS FOCUSSED FORMAT

In order to still offer our loyal exhibitors a perspective, we are now organising an alternative business event that concentrates on the essentials in the same time frame: FABRIC DAYS.

”Despite all our efforts we now had to make the difficult but unavoidable decision to cancel MUNICH FABRIC START and BLUEZONE from 1 – 3 September 2020 due to the continuing travel restrictions and further exhibitor cancellations as a result. Our priority now is to offer a special format to those exhibitors and agencies who are willing and able to present their new products on this date. With FABRIC DAYS, we offer a business focused event in Munich that concentrates on the essentials and enables the industry to work efficiently under the new conditions.”

Sebastian Klinder, Managing Director MUNICH FABRIC START

We are encouraged by the commitment, support and cooperation of a large group of exhibitors and long-standing partners who, despite the difficult situation, remain registered and have confirmed their participation in the fair.

As a partner to the industry, it is part of our philosophy to now offer a trade fair to the exhibitors and agencies who want to keep this appointment and definitely want to exhibit in Munich. FABRIC DAYS is a special event format for a limited number of exhibitors in four halls of the MOC, taking into account the applicable safety and hygiene measures.

FABRIC DAYS from 1 – 3 September 2020 in Munich presents a business focused format which is reduced to the essentials and designed to stabilise and support the industry in the return to business. Thus, the MUNICH FABRIC START team will continue to pursue the goal of providing the industry with a valuable and positive impulse.

You will find all information about the event on the FABRIC DAYS homepage here.

VIEW Premium Selection in July 2020 Cancelled

VIEW PREMIUM SELECTION IN JULY 2020 CANCELLED

To our dear exhibitors, visitors and fashion community,

In the current difficult and uncertain situation, it is more important than ever to work together and to face the newly emerging challenges as a strong community. In that respect, we are aware of the great importance and relevance our trade fairs has for manufacturers and fashion companies as a platform for exchange and business.

Like you, we have dealt extensively with the continuous developments around Covid-19 in recent weeks and are in close contact with authorities, service companies, associations and players in the textile industry to develop possible scenarios for the organisation of trade fairs.

Following the political decisions of 15 April 2020 and the associated extended ban on major events in Germany until 31 August 2020, we held valuable discussions with other trade fair organisers and visitors. Also, in view of the fact that VIEW does not necessarily fall under the definition of a major event, we asked our exhibitors in a survey about their current situation and the situation of the market to examine whether the timing for a preview trade fair makes sense under the given circumstances.

The survey showed that the majority of the market has no need for a preview textile fair in this extraordinary situation, as new collections cannot be developed in time due to the confirmed production delays. Moreover, the ban on major events and travel restrictions, which are likely to remain in place for some time and vary from country to country within the EU, does not allow for the necessary planning for a trade fair event in July. Another aspect is the active uncertainty among exhibitors and visitors operating outside of Germany when considering visiting a trade fair in just a few weeks. The unknown availability regarding hotels and restaurants during a stay in Munich reinforces this. Above all, the health and safety of our exhibitors and visitors is our top priority.

“Based on these valuable insights and the feedback of experts and producers against the background of current developments, we are compelled to cancel VIEW Premium Selection on July 14 – 15, 2020. This decision is a very difficult one for us. We deeply regret that we will not be able to hold our beloved VIEW this summer – especially since we know how important it is for the textile industry to exchange personal information and resume business relations as quickly as possible. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our exhibitors, visitors and our service partners for their great loyalty, optimism and trust in us at all times which we greatly appreciate. We’re continuing to do our best to provide an optimal platform as soon as possible.”

Sebastian Klinder, Managing Director MUNICH FABRIC START

“Our goal now is to be able to organise MUNICH FABRIC START from 01 – 03 September 2020 followed by VIEW Premium Selection from 08 – 09 December 2020. Of course, following the necessary pre-cautions, which includes ongoing integrated hygiene measures as well as controlled visitor guidance and minimum distance rules on site. Together with various specialists, we are currently working on a step-by-step plan with specific recommendations for action on the implementation of trade fairs which take into account any official regulations.”

Frank Junker, Creative Director MUNICH FABRIC START

The ban on major events in Germany is currently in effect until August 31st 2020, which according to current planning means we offer the first possible platform to kick off the Autumn.Winter 21/22 season with our MUNICH FABRIC START trade fair date. The numerous stand registrations already received are a great support for our efforts. Visitors can get a preview of the Spring.Summer 22 season at the subsequent VIEW Premium Selection from 8 – 9 December 2020.

From all the team at Munich Fabric Start we want to thank everyone who is actively shaping the future together with us and we are looking forward to a reunion with all industry players in Munich again soon.

Stay healthy!
